Project Description

The premise of this project was to design a studio. I decided to make a design and fabrication studio because of my love of Digital models and 3D printing. I wanted to make a space where people could come in and bring their ideas to life. There would be different areas depending on where you are within the design cycle.

I designed my logo around the three main steps of designing, Ideating, Designing and Creating. I gave each its own color that would correspond to its area. The name is also a bit of a joke to myself, using the same acronym as 'I don't Care' because I couldn't think of a name.

Concept Sketches

On top of those there would also need to be a lobby and front desk. This could also be an opportunity to showcase what people have created using the studio and a form of advertisement to get more people to use the space.

Each design is primarily composed of the three main areas listed above. Each one would be color coded within the space to keep up the branding and make the space easy to navigate.

There would also need to be bathrooms, a meeting room, and a storage closet which was difficult to fit within the square footage limit.

Final Design

The rectangular shape of the building makes it easy to navigate and the three main sections are placed in sequence. Clients can check in at the lobby, make their way to the ideation or meeting room to come up with ideas. They can then make their way to the design studio to model it, then to the fabrication studio to create it.

Exterior Render

I also incorporated an outdoor seating area for enjoying ice cream during the summer. This render is set during sunset to give that cozy feeling to the outdoor seating.

Lobby

The Lobby exists within the Ideation section, and therefore uses the light blue color scheme. However there are still instances of other branding colors. There is also a display case located opposite the waiting area. The lighting element over stretches most of the way through the building, changing colors depending on the section its in.

Design Studio

The design studio is the heart of the building. It is primarily composed of a series of work-stations with a display case in the center. The lighting element from the lobby changes colors once it enters this space.
