3D Printed Armor
10/2024
Project Description
This was a personal project of mine designed to test my modeling and 3D printing abilities, as well as an intro to spray-painting. First I made foam-core mockups of each piece of the armor to test the sizing. I then modeled each piece in Fusion 360, and printed them out and assembled them. Finally I applied the spray-paint and all the straps and padding.

The chest-plate was made to resemble a ribcage with the 'power core' located in front of the heart. I also tested out the color scheme on it as well as the helmet shown previously.

The armor for the forearm was unique for each arm, unlike the rest of the armor. The bottom of each was identical, however only one of them has a 'screen' (show above). I designed and printed a fake HUD of sorts to stick onto it.

The helmet itself was heavily inspired by the Halo Spartan. However to differentiate it I made the visore more polygonal rather than round. I also added many of my own patterns that are present throughout the armor

I wanted to make the armor lighter, for a couple reasons. Primarily, it would be lighter to wear, and would require less material to print. For this reason I kept the pieces relatively small, rather than making them more bulky.

Both armor pieces for the legs continue many of the patterns established in previous pieces such as the triangular pyramids and the jagged linear bumps.
